They can be life-saving one minute and a disaster the next, but a little thought and care can reduce many of the problems and redress the balance to a more positive view.

As far as we know, self-tapping screw is used most often where access to forming a joint can only be obtained from one side. They work generally by cutting their own thread as they screw into the base material. Usually a small hole is drilled in the base material and a screw sized hole is drilled in the top material, when the screw is pushed through the top section and aligned with the small hole, the screw cuts its own thread when it is tightened with a screw driver. The system works very well when used properly, but will also cause problems when abused. So, in order to make the system work, the base material must be softer than the material from which the screw is made, otherwise it is not possible to cut the screw. On the other...    less

In general, the Concrete Nails is a product that seems to go from saint to sinner in a very short time. On the other hand, as the base material is soft, then the joint is not very strong and the strength element can only be attained by using several screws. In many cases, the screws are used to retain the covers to equipment enclosures where access is required on a regular occasion, this means the screws are unscrewed and retightened on a regular basis. It often happens that this in time damages the thread in the base enclosure and the screws will work poorly or not at all. A simple solution to this is to use a slightly larger self -tapping screw when retightening the joint. This works perfectly well but the finished appearance may be a little strange. Besides, it is also possible to tighten the joint too strongly and to pull the thread out of the base material and ruin the joint that way. Therefore, this is one system that requires care and it is better to under tighten than over tighten the screw. In material like plastic, the Head Wood Screws has become a way of joining items as the screws work well and provide a good joint. In this case, the screw forms the thread rather than cutting the thread. It sounds innocuous but because of this the thread does not pull out when over tightened but may well pull a chunk of plastic away destroying the base section.More information, please visit: http://www.din571.com/
